Help Steward Campus Land
Activities that can help us reach our Land Management sustainability goals:
Report leaks.You can help campus maintain an efficient irrigation system by reporting water leaks, broken fixtures and irrigation spray heads, and other water waste to facilities managers by one of the following:
Submit a service request with Physical Operations & Maintenance
Plant a tree.Roots on Campus is an annual tree-planting event on the Davis campus that invites individuals to plant trees, giving them a personal connection to the campus landscape and carbon sequestration effort.
Get inspired. The Davis campus offers innumerable examples of sustainable gardening tailored to Central Valley conditions. Online resources provided by UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden, coupled with sustainable demonstration gardens on campus, are great resources for gardeners looking for sustainable solutions for their homes and communities.
Volunteer.Learn more about the land campus is located on by volunteering with one of these organizations:
Intern. The UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden also offers students the opportunity to participate in their Learning by Leading™ program via quarter-long and school year-long internships in which students gain leadership experience addressing a variety of environmental sustainability, restoration and literacy issues.
Explore. Exploring UC Davis land is a great way to learn more about sustainable land management and foster an appreciation and responsibility for stewarding the land.
Become a UC California Naturalist or Climate Steward.The UC California Naturalist and Climate Steward programs are offered statewide by the UC Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The courses, intended for adults, work with partner organizations to certify a community of naturalists or stewards to provide a combination of classroom and field experience related to natural resources, community service, earth systems, etc.
